The Cacio e Pepe 2025 Recipe Roundup
A shout out to the recipes that we returned to again and again and again. Thank you Chefs.
The reason we wrote the Cacio e Pepe Tarot deck is because we love food. Full stop. We love to eat it, we love to cook it, we love to talk about it after we cook it and then again after we eat it.
Below is a round-up of the Cacio team's 2025 greatest hits. May it inspire you to get busy in the kitchen with some new finds. An enormous thank you to all the professional chefs and food writers who keep our love language over-floweth with inspiration.
Be sure to scroll all the way for inspiration on doing a New Year tarot card pull 🕯️

1. Sheet-Pan Sausages and Mushrooms With Arugula and Croutons by Ali Slagle
Why I love it: Brag alert: I forage for mushrooms in the woods sometimes and this is the best with fresh oyster shrooms. But the realist in me loves it because it also makes use of tired bread, decimates my constant over abundance of spinach/arugula in the fridge and gets served in the sheet pan itself.
2. Grated Tomato Pasta by Ham El-Waylly
Why I love it: So fast, so fresh tasting, like no other pasta I've ever made at home and it is perfect for when the tomatoes are stacking up on the counter in late summer.
3. Broccoli Cheddar Soup by Heidi Swanson
Why I love it: the mustard croutons are a revelation and it's a great "on hand" recipe as I usually have all these things in the fridge or pantry. Lindsey’s Picks

1. Mushroom Toast from the Gjelina: Cooking from Venice, California Cookbook
Why I love it: Who needs meat when you have mushrooms? This earthy, umami, hearty toast makes me look forward to chilly coastal nights. I return to it time and again. Bless you Gjelina.
2. Crispy Sheet pan Noodles With Glazed Tofu by Hetty Lui McKinnon
Why I love it: This has been on regular rotation for weeknight dinners. Recommendation: double the sauce and sub bok choy with your favorite bitter green. Get wild.
3. Sparkling Banana Bread by Samin Nosrat, from Good Things Cookbook
Why I love it: I'm always on the quest for the perfect banana bread, and this one exceeded my expectations. The buttermilk makes it a true delight.

1. Tomato Tart with Garlic and Capers by Alison Roman
Why I love it: This tart elevates tomatoes to all their glory - with the garlic and the capers acting as just as talented back up singers. The crust tastes like Ritz Crackers. Need I say more?
2. Bangers with Winter Squash and Fried Sage by Lidey Heuck
Why I love it: I made this so frequently during winter squash season I nearly shed a tear when it was over. Luckily, we're back. It's a healthier twist on bangers and mash, it's cozy, it's affordable and it hits the spot. Fried sage = I'm chef of the year.
3. Clementine Cake by Claudia Roden, adapted by Nigella Lawson
Why I love it: The truth is I made this for the first time on Christmas, but it still made it's way to the top 3. Incredibly delicious, aromatic, not-too-sweet and absolutely acceptable as “breakfast cake.”
